If you were on a game show and asked the million dollar question; "Who invented carpet?" What would be your response?

"Mohawk, yeah!" As I walk away empty handed. Not hearing those adrenaline pumping jingles, for winning chimes.

We know this is not the type of every thought that flows through your mind, but I'm sure you know they guy's name that invented Facebook. We figure you should think about this, at least once in a life time. So here we go...

No one really knows for sure. Some people speculate Turkish or Native North Americans. Others suspect China or India. The only thing we can say for sure is,  in 1791, in Philadelphia the first woven carpet mill was introduced into the United States. But it wasn't until 1839 that the first power operated weaving loom was invented. Wool and cotton were the primary textiles. Of course there is evidence of wool carpets dating back over 4,000 years. Of which, a thread was used in a rectangular criss-cross pattern, to produce a flat cloth. Could this be the invention of carpet?
